Help / Bringing your data in
Why was an MPAN refused?
Every MPAN core has a check digit, the last of its 13 digits. If a digit has been mistyped the check fails and the row is left out, so a wrong number never reaches a supplier.
Other common reasons:
- The spreadsheet has shortened a long number (it shows as 1.2E+12). Format the column as text and copy the numbers in again.
- A leading digit has been lost and the number has 12 digits.
- The same supply appears twice in the file.
- The supply is already on another company's record. Move it there first, or correct the company.
MPRNs for gas have 6 to 10 digits. There is no published check digit for them, so only the length is checked.
